Weather or Not with Mitch Keegan Archives: March - August 2008

Thursday, September 4, 2008

A cool day yesterday continues today, the only difference, not as much sunshine today.  The reminants of Gustav are moving into the midwest and brining rain to Iowa, Illinois and Missouri.  We'll be seeing clouds from the storm, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.  Highs will be in the upper 60.

As we move into later tomorrow and into the weekend, we do have the chance for some showers and a few thunderstorms.  Highs, again, in the upper 60s to around 70.

The latest US Drought monitor puts much of our viewing area in the abnormally dry category, so hopefully our rain chances can help our dry conditions.

Some rainfall yesterday and then the temperatures dropped after a mild and muggy morning.  Today, a different story, with high pressure in control of our weather, we'll see mostly sunny skies and below normal highs.

Our highs for today and tomorrow will be in the upper 60s.  Our average high for this time of the year is 79°.  As we move into Friday and the weekend, we do have the chance for some showers in the forecast.  Some of them will be related to the reminants of Gustav and some of them will be from an upper level disturbance.

Our high temperatures for the entire 7-day forecast will continue to be below average, in the upper 60s to around 70.

I know I'm going to have to keep telling myself that today is Tuesday.  I'm also going to have to get used to getting up early and using an alarm clock after a week of working at 6, 9 & 10.  Okay, to the weather...

We're watching a cold front for today, that will bring showers and some thunderstorms.  Behind the front, cooler and less humid air.  Our highs over the next several days will only be in the lower 70s and some of us will be in the upper 60s!  Definately feeling a little more like fall.

As we move towards the end of the week, we do have some more showers and storms in the forecast as some moisture from former, now tropical storm Gustav makes its way northward.  Our attention is also on the tropics as Hurricane Hanna and Tropical Storm Ike have formed, and there is more activity in the Atlantic.

This past weekend, Kya, Brynnley and I went down to Iowa to see my family.  Brynnley got to meet some of her great aunts and uncles and her great-grandparents.  Above is a picture of Brynnley laying on our couch last week.  She's certainly getting bigger and a lot more active.  Any time I say "hi" to her now, she gets a big gummy smile on her face.
